To keep everyone in the loop: I am now 100% off RA injections and all meds. We are now managing my symptoms and pain with a very specific diet and digestive enzymes. We added a new seed (yes, a seed) this week and I will be discussing my diet, the digestive enzymes and my progress in the coming weeks.
What I’m doing with my RA treatment by going off injections (form of chemo), pain killers, muscle relaxers, anti-inflammatories, ect, is very controversial. And let me clarify that I DO believe in medication, (I take Euthyrox for my thyroid) however I have very strong feelings that my RA medication made my disease worse. Everybody is different. I believe in what I’m doing and I believe that fixing my digestion is the key to beating RA and other autoimmune diseases. I have my team that I’m consulting with and my blood bio markers and such to provide scientific documentation.
I decided to put myself out there for everyone to watch so others can see my journey and decide for themselves about their own treatment. I (and my health team) believe my development of RA in issues with the digestion. Specifically lack of nutrient absorption and exposure to harmful food like products.
After getting shingles and a sizable lymphatic infection I started researching more about RA drugs, only to discover that humira has multiple lawsuits for causing lymphoma. I read that and decided that that’s it, I’m done. I would rather deal with the daily pain of RA than possibly develop anymore issues. I took the initial risk with injections because I did not know that I had any other options to better my condition. Now with the help of some amazing people, I am trying out other options.
There is no quick fix, this is very much a process and every day I am getting better and feeling better. I still have pain, though nothing compared to before and those drugs that were supposed to help me, made my condition dramatically worse, causing me to develop new problems. It is no wonder those with RA for years have a substantial amount of different health issues, these drugs cause new issues in addition to the original ones. Never once during my treatments did I ever feel better, ever. I felt worse, weak, tired, exhausted. Thats what chemo does, kills all TNF cells. Kills our immune system. Without our immune system we cannot function. Those on RA injections bust their ass to scrape by day-by-day with what little energy they have. It is a terrible way to live, you always feel trapped in an ill-functioning body while watching you life pass by. You watch those that you love do things they love and you cannot join them. That hurts terribly, for everybody.
“You gotta make a change. Its time for us as a people to start making some changes, lets change the way we eat, lets change the way we live, and lets change the way we treat each other. You see the old way wasn’t working so its on us, to do what we gotta do to survive.”-Tupac Shakur

Hi Angela
My name is Samuel and I was dignosed w juvenile RA (spodinitis) when I was 12 y.o.. I am now 46 and after over 70 triathlon races including 12 IM (of which 3x in Kona) I can tell you RA is fully manageable. I stopped taking drugs a while ago. In fact I had taken Enbrel (Ethanercept) successfully for some time and the symptons just disappeared.
I wish you good luck and never never give up
best
Sam
